Alte Donau

Today we met Michi and Ivana for a lunch of spare ribs and ice cream followed by a walk around the Alte Donau (Old Danube). The Alte Donau is the dead end of a former river branch of the Danube. It's essentially a lake in the middle of Vienna which makes it a popular place for the city's citizens to "escape" during the summer months. After stuffing ourselves at lunch the walk was a perfect way to let things settle, but I must say that I was very surprised by the size of the Alte Donau. With several of our afternoon hours spent on foot I am now ready to relax with a glass of wine and a movie.
